This prestigious title not only marks an impressive achievement for Jason but also positions him to represent Ireland at the international finals in the USA next year. Having moved to Northern Ireland from the Philippines at the tender age of eight, Jason's story is a testament to resilience and triumph over adversity.
At 33, Jason is not only navigating life as a gay immigrant with a learning disability, but he is also redefining norms in the world of pageantry. His involvement in this sphere began earnestly when he entered his first pageant in 2023, eventually securing the title of Mr Shining Light in 2024. Through modelling and pageantry, Jason has found a platform where he can express his true self and build his confidence, inspired by icons like those on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

I was inspired by seeing people from different backgrounds just being themselves,
he shared, emphasising the freedom and acceptance that pageantry has afforded him. By winning Mr Shining Light clad in an evening gown, he broke traditional boundaries, advocating for self-expression without confinement to societal expectations.
Following his win in 2024, Jason took a hiatus from social media to focus on his mental health, addressing personal challenges such as anxiety. Growing up wasn’t easy for me, I wasn’t accepted for who I was. It means so much to represent my country just being myself.
