On Respect, Inclusion, and Diversity of Thought

At The Men’s Group, we believe that inclusion means more than identity — it means embracing people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and life experiences. We welcome men of every race, religion, sexuality, and class, and we’re proud to be a space where individuals can feel accepted regardless of how they think, what they believe, or where they come from.
Our purpose is simple: to create a welcoming, non-political space for men in Belfast and surrounding areas to connect, socialise, and build friendships. Our focus is on community, camaraderie, and shared experiences — not ideology or political beliefs.
To maintain this environment, we discourage political discussions — especially those involving contentious or divisive issues — across our events and platforms. We are intentionally non-political because we want everyone to feel at ease, free from the pressure to align with any particular viewpoint.
We do not care what your political views are. We do care about how you treat others while you’re with us.
Unfortunately, there is increasing pressure in some spaces to demand ideological conformity — insisting that being a member of the LGBT+ community must also mean holding specific political positions. Everyone in The Men’s Group has the right to their own beliefs, and no one should feel bullied, shamed, or excluded for thinking differently.
Political bullying — including pressuring others to adopt certain views, shaming them for not doing so, or labelling them for dissent — will not be tolerated at our events or in our online spaces.
We’re proud to offer a space where men can simply be themselves — without preconditions, without pressure, and without politics. We understand that this stance could be seen by some as curtailing activism, but we hope the wider community will recognise that this is about creating a truly inclusive space — one where people from all backgrounds feel welcome, safe, and respected.
